Italian Rum Baba Donuts

These Italian Rum Baba Donuts are a delightful twist on the classic dessert. They are soft, moist, and infused with a rich rum flavor. Perfect for a sweet treat or special occasions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup rum
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting
  • Whipped cream and maraschino cherries for garnish

Instructions:

Mix the yeast and warm milk together in a bowl

Wait five minutes for it to get foamy

To the yeast mixture, add the flour, butter, eggs, and salt

Stir to form a dough

For five to seven minutes, knead the dough until it gets elastic and smooth

For one hour, cover and allow it to rise

Set the oven temperature to 375F 190C

Shape the dough into doughnuts and arrange them on a baking sheet that has been oiled

Cook for 15 to 18 minutes, or until well-browned

Rum and water should be combined in a small saucepan

Warm up until youre comfortable

Take the donuts out of the oven and quickly dip them into the rum mixture for a brief period of time

After removing, let the donuts cool

Sprinkle with granulated sugar

Garnish with maraschino cherries and whipped cream
