Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of American cheese
- Sliced onions, pickles, lettuce, and tomato optional
- Ketchup and mustard optional
Instructions:
Warm up a griddle or cast-iron skillet over high heat
As the meat is heating up, divide it into four equal pieces and roll each one into a ball
Add salt and pepper to each ball
When you put a beef ball on a hot skillet or griddle, use a spatula to quickly press it down hard to make a thin patty
For crispy edges, go for lighter ones
It will take about two to three minutes of cooking before the edges start to turn brown and crisp
For medium-rare to medium-doneness, flip the patty over and cook for another two to three minutes
In the last minute of cooking, cover the pan and put a slice of American cheese on top of each patty
This will melt the cheese
For one minute, toast the burger buns in the pan until they get a little brown
Add toppings like sliced onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and mustard to the burgers if you want
Enjoy your tasty Smashed Burgers while theyre still hot
